DIY: Play-Doh with Essential Oils

RULE NO. 1 : LET.YOUR.CHILD(REN) HELP
RULE NO. 2 : HAVE FUN
RULE NO. 3 : MAKE A MESS, CLEAN LATER009
Play-Doh is one of those things that has been around forever!  Within the last year, I discovered that by adding a few drops of pure therapeutic grade essential oils (we only use Young Living Essential Oils) you can create sensory play-doh.img_7023
Here is how that works…. lets say your little one(s) is under the weather but still in the mood to play.  Here is a perfect time to make a batch of Play-Doh using Thieves essential oil.  While they play, the essential oils molecules are entering the pores in their hands as they play as well as aromatically.

Lets say your child is having an of day, you and him are both emotionally drained. You need a break and they are at a point you cannot reason with them.  Allow me to introduce:Stress Away Play-Doh!  Same way as explained above, however this blend can assist with their moods (hopefully) and add some peace to you home.

Fun Fact … Essential Oils molecules are so small that they have the ability to enter the blood brain barrier. By direct inhalation and/or diffusing essential oils the aroma causes the olfactory nerve to send messages to the limbic part of the brain which activates thoughts, emotions, and memory.

A few of my other favorite Essential oils to use in our DIY Play-Doh are:
– Stress Away – for when we need to calm down and refocus.
– Lavender – great before nap or bed time to promote calmness.
– Thieves – sniffles? coughs? this is where we turn to.
– Peace and Calming – perfect for those not so great days and bad attitudes.

Not all essential oils are created equal, DO NOT use essential oils from the store.  Read the labels, most say do not use directly on skin, if you would like Young Living essential oils, you may order them HERE.
